The second-hand marketplace Members Express Displeasure About Sizing Modifications

Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.

This online marketplace has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes but did not contact every member regarding the update.

Digital Channels Backlash

Many shoppers and sellers are posting online saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping.

Vinted explained the new system was more in line with other platforms.

It has advised users to review their products and manually change the size where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.

Size Classification Changes

Previously, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.

The updated approach includes a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10.

For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.

User Stories

Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".

"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.

Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.

"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she stated.

Required Changes

Another shopper, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".

"Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she stated.

Marketplace Information

The service features exceeding 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.

It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.

This isn't the first time that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: last year, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
