Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hard surfaces
A revitalized Medvedev claimed his initial championship for nearly 30 months with success over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.
The athlete, a former world number one, has experienced a challenging period, managing just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.
His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in particular - resulted in him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.
Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the past month - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's initial championship after the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface after spring of the previous year.
The win also signifies the Russian has achieved twenty-one championships at 21 various tournaments.
"For the first time I'm at a competition with my children together, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional the champion.
"This championship is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."
The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six championship matches, comprising in Halle earlier this year.
The player's retrieving approach and frequent reactions on the playing surface had prompted observers to doubt if his ability to compete at the elite level was finished.
Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and play aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.
The champion recovered from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, taking 4 of the last five points to gain the advantage.
Both players exchanged breaks in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his initial tour victory, gained dominance to push for a final set.
He defended 4 early-game break points in a competitive deciding set before the Russian broke to 15 to secure the win.
Fittingly, he secured the title with a point at the net, with the Frenchman failing to control a shot after a lengthy match.
